Lean

What do we mean when we discuss love and beauty?

The ads throw out those words all the time.

Just because those words sound nice doesn’t make them

any more worthwhile than “biscuit” or “hamburger.”

Love and beauty must be experienced to be real,

it lies in a hand-hold, it blossoms in a word of encouragement

With no effort at all, we can tear down someone struggling to get back up,

to believe in themselves.

We can believe in them. We can uphold their worth.

My friends, be there for those who need it

and we all need it from time to time.

Let us join together and not only sing, but live out the simple words,

“lean on me when you’re not strong.”
