There’s a guy named Timmy at my acting school- really cool, unique dude, has been having a great year in the acting world.
He’s 100% percent himself. My acting teaching, himself an accomplished actor, noted, “yeah, for Timmy, a lot of the rules don’t apply. He’s just himself and it works.”
I’ll confess, I fall into the trap many of us actors fall into: we think we need to be somebody else, and we are in the literal sense, but in a more powerful sense we remain ourselves even within those characters. That is how you bring the character to live. That is how you deliver an authentic performance.
The world is full of people putting on airs. Will we be bold enough to step forward and simply and powerfully be ourselves?
