Yesterday night, I was at the Cat Fly film festival in Asheville, North Carolina. A great celebration was thrown. Beer was flowing. Everyone was having a good time.
We cheered as each local film was shown, calling out the names of people we saw on the screen. To those who could not join us, we sent out group selfies and clips. Everyone was included and encouraged. Hugs were given. Stories were told. Life was very good!
This industry has a reputation for being cutthroat. Luckily, my experience has been anything but. We all have times when we feel discouraged, especially during the dry seasons or times we are fraught with the imposter syndrome. We need each other to lean on. Thanks to events like this, we who dare to dream have the impetus to plunge farther and further down the rabbit hole.
