If You’ve Made it This Far

If you’ve made it this far,

You’ve made it this far

It’s not easy

I’m sure there were times

Maybe you wanted out

to give up to give in to say it’s not worth it

I’m better off gone

but you’re not gone, you’re here

Thank God for you!

You are wonderful!

There’s no time like the present

Start making a difference

You are the pebble in the pond the endless ripple

Go out and touch the lives of many

who will benefit from your light

Expel the darkness

It’s a new day

Live it to the full

Planted, not Perfect

When I tell people I do figure drawing, they tell me many things, “I could never do that I’m too ____… I’d be too embarrassed… I’ve always wanted to but…”

Funny thing is, the artists they don’t need you to be this that or the other. Tall, short, fat, thin. Doesn’t matter. Just to be yourself. And be still. That’s it.

We walk though life praying that we’ll be good enough. But all the while people are waiting for people to just step forward and say, “here I am.” Not to push it. Not to project it. Just to be.

It gives them freedom to do the same.

You don’t have to take your clothes off to accomplish this. You can do this every day of your life. You are who you are, and we’re all on a journey of improvement, self-discovery. But right now, we’re here, and we’re alive. That’s good enough.

Honesty goes a long way. Be you. Be proud. Be brave.

Blessings, my wonderful friends,

Aaron

The Secret Self

“No one will hide an extremely valuable thing in something of equal value. However, people often put things worth countless thousands into a thing worth a penny.”  -Gospel of Phillip 1:22

We stash money in mattresses and piggy banks to keep it safe. We bury treasure in the sand. In the same way, we have a soul inside this humble flesh, waiting to be brought out, to shine in the darkness of the present day.

How we all long to see it! How we celebrate when the light shines forth!

Get to know one another. Let your secret self out.

How wonderful is the light of your soul!

FitBit

A few months back, my wife bought a FitBit-type apparatus

It tracks how many steps she takes per day;

sets a weekly step goal;

and beeps whenever she has been sitting too long.

Her persistence to the program has yielded amazing results

She is fitter than ever, has a huge boost in energy,

and relishes the competition of meeting and exceeding her step goal

each week.

In everything worth pursuing in life,

I think we need a FitBit,

keeping us on track,

giving us steady encouragement to succeed,

and giving tangible goals that we can celebrate.

It’s so easy to base our success of fictions,

fictions too low that we never really achieve our true potential

or fictions too high that we simply give up out of pure dismay.

While we pursue these fictions,

the FitBit is waiting, extending its silent invitation

to rise to its challenge and reap its rewards.

LORD, be my FitBit. Keep me accountable to my calling.

Challenge me. Encourage me. Let me know how I can grow

in You.
