To the Utmost

It is the nature of God to reveal Himself

It is the nature of man to try to conceal Him

His fingerprint is everywhere,

in the rocks, trees, and air

Man covers the universe in concrete and steel,

he erects walls

while God builds bridges

Jesus Christ being the ultimate bridge

between holy God and His fallen children.

Man covers over the cross with outstretched hands,

claiming “I am god”

Yet the true God remains always before us,

waiting, inviting us in,

wanting us to experience Him

to the utmost.

Jesus Christ, LORD in Flesh

Why does it matter that Jesus rose bodily?

Can’t we be content, as the Gnostics were,

that Jesus rose in Spirit.

Can’t He be Jesus a disembodied life-force,

loving us, His children?

He could have, but He chose not to.

He came to Earth in the flesh,

passed through the birth canal,

spent time with family

and disciples

and passersby.

He healed by touch.

He broke bread.

He sweat blood.

He was nailed to a cross.

He knew what it was like to have His strained last breaths

taken from Him.

Then, He rose in flesh.

He had Thomas place His fingers through

the holes in His hands,

just to see He was really here.

Jesus is not an apparition.

Jesus is not a dream.

He is our friend,

our Father,

our judge,

and our guide.

He is as real as you and me.

What a wonderful person to spend

the whole of eternity with!

To not just contemplate him

or theologically

but physically.

We do not just study Him,

we experience Him

in truth.

Our senses are His to explore

and excite.

Fully God, fully man

Praise the real, holy and righteous God!

My greatest desire is for you to have an intimate experience

with our LORD and Savior.

Our faith journey is not a museum,

with red tape and security cameras

and people with badges keeping a scornful eye.

It is paint and easel, it is a cheering crowd

It is Play-dough and a full sprint

It is sweat and blood mixed with the Holy Spirit.

Our God is a living God!

Time for us to live like it.

Jesus, Redeemer of the Cross

The Cross: symbol of suffering and shame,
of judgement and rejection
Pain and persecution.

Outside. Condemned.

Now, imagine our Savior carrying it,
upon His back, across the Via Doloroso
for our redemption

He died upon that cross
Now people wear it upon their necks

Never let ANYONE you are too far from grace,
for Christ Himself redeemed the very weapon
that killed Him, and the people who put Him there.

His grace and love
overpower any malicious branding
that Satan has placed upon your
precious soul.

In your other life,
you are a warrior princess.
You fight and spar with the younger men,
tell stories and crack jokes with the older men.

Your husband is strong and wealthy and kind
and looks upon you like you were ageless.

You face dragons with your sons
and dance around in fairy crowns with your daughters.

You listen to the wisdom of the widows
and bedeck the young women in flowing dresses.

You eat mutton with your mouth open
and sing sweet songs on the lyre.

Your skin is tough
Your belly full
All you see in the reflection of the waters
is pure beauty

In the morning, you watch the horizon with hope
In the evening, you sprint through the forests,
climbing the tallest tree
just to watch the suns go down.

You dream of flying
and the next morning you sprout wings.

You whisper to the ground and it grows.
All your ways and your days are full of magic.

Imagine now that this other life
is not too far gone,
that it is yours for the taking.
You are full of possibility
and wonder.
Your life is meant to be
a thing of legends.

Have Faith in God

Have faith in God:

-when the journey is long

-when the lights are all gone

-when you’re hurt & in pain

-when you’re left out in the rain

Have faith in God:

-when you experience wonders untold

-when you inherit all of the gold

-on days when you do not feel old

Have faith in God:

-in every season

-for every reason

-because He is pleasing
