People Are Watching

“I couldn’t do that, people are watching”

It’s exactly because people are watching that we must do it

Do what is light and love and true

For if we do not, if we are silent,

we silence the Holy Spirit inside us

the voice, our Jiminy Cricket,

that instructs on all that is pure and good and holy.

Do it so that people will see,

for their sake and for yours,

a taste of something good

The Heart of Man

This is the match to burn the heart of man

to ignite the coal dust

to cleanse the impurities to make it sparkle

and shine

revealing the diamonds

hidden neath the mountains of pressure and age

This is the match to make new life begin

and make him beautiful again

just as he was meant to be.

Gifted, not Re-Gifted

You are not a broken box

Expecting to get met with a scowl

and returned to sender

No, you are a present,

impeccably wrapped

and beautiful,

carrying wordless

worth and beauty

How lucky we are to have you

be present, be now, be loved

and, of course, open yourself up to others,

the true treasure’s inside.

o, Sweet the Blood of Jesus

Oh the sweet, sweet blood of Jesus

Cleansing and nourishing

to the body and soul

His sacrifice is our atonement

His suffering is our joy

for now He stands as king and LORD

above all the nations and angels and Universe

All of us call out His praise

For He is glorious and wonderful and good

His blood flows free through my veins

Tearing Down Walls

Currently my wife is tearing down walls

of our double-wide

making way for new walls

renovated spaces.

That’s relationship

right there

Being a badass

being bold enough to tear down walls,

which were good at the time,

but new ones are needed for growth

to build families and futures

and a new home

better than even the people before us knew.

The Good Samaritan

*Luke 10:30-36

Let’s look at the parable

of the good Samaritan.

You got this guy, cruising down the road,

gets beat up and robbed and left to die

in a ditch.

A bunch of well-to-do, well-respected

“pious” peeps

from his own nation stroll by,

but they’ve got places to be,

especially if he’s dying

Cuz a dying man would make a “holy man”

unclean.

Along comes a Samaritan,

who doesn’t have all the lingo and the rules,

he just knows someone is hurt,

doesn’t matter that the Jews and Samaritans

usually don’t get along,

he’s got a conscience, so he lends a hand,

he goes over what is expected of him,

cuz he’s just doing it to do it

you know?

There’s no expectation of reward.

And the “dead” man gets better and the Samaritan goes on his way

and who knows if they see each other again,

it’s not about anything more than doing the right thing.

We only have the moment.

Sure, we can brush it off with excuses and agendas,

but we all have a call to do something good,

each person’s call is different,

but it’s there, beckoning.

Keep your ear to the Earth

and your eyes to the skies

and you’ll find it.

Do good, my friends.

In all things, do good.
