Testify!

She stood up in front of the congregation and said,

“I shouldn’t even be here today

I’ve had seizures that limit my ability to walk

but here I am standing in front of you.

It’s all thanks to God.”

Then she sang “Jesus Take the Wheel.”

Next it was a lady in a wheelchair,

who testified to the necessity of Jesus,

“turn to him before it’s too late.”

Pretty soon it was everyone,

black and white, male and female, young and old

All preaching their own sermonette

Because the Spirit was flowing

and the gateway to the pulpit was open

My friends, do not quench the Spirit

Allow Him to flow freely through you,

to share both your gifts and your story,

so all might be empowered to do the same.

The altar call is sounded,

who will stand?

Offensive

I do not understand the love affair amongst some Christians of making the cross offensive. “This will (probably) offend you,” they say. “This may upset the PC people,” they add.

What kind of witness is this? Yes, Paul calls the cross “foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:18) to some, and many times it is. There are many who don’t get it, don’t like it, or more likely have had bad experiences with it.

But our goal should never to be to offend, but simply to present the Gospel as it is. The naked Gospel is powerful enough without attaching a bulldozer to is.

Let us witness and truth and in love. May it be Christ and the Holy Spirit that speaks through us, rather than our own selfish ambition.

Like God

Adam’s sin is Joseph’s sin is our sin

The Deceiver wasn’t lying when it said

the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

would make us like God.

We were created in Their Divine image, male and female alike

Thanks to nearby Tree of Life, we had eternity

to be transformed more and more into Their likeness

But we grew impatient

We knew our Divine calling, but we wanted it know

and so we took it before our Kairos time

and it destroyed us.

But God’s story is one of redemption:

sending Their Son,

then the Holy Spirit

to wipe the past clean

and start the journey anew

so that we could become more and more like Them.

People Are Watching

“I couldn’t do that, people are watching”

It’s exactly because people are watching that we must do it

Do what is light and love and true

For if we do not, if we are silent,

we silence the Holy Spirit inside us

the voice, our Jiminy Cricket,

that instructs on all that is pure and good and holy.

Do it so that people will see,

for their sake and for yours,

a taste of something good

Mary, Did You Know?

Over and over again,

Jesus tells us who He is,

what He will do

And even though we acknowledge

what He is saying

and His ability to do it,

we are still mystified by Him.

Mary His own mother,

The disciples

every single one of us

are amazed by Him

when He makes good His promises

maybe because we have a seed of cynicism

within us,

but more likely because Jesus,

God, the Holy Spirit

Triune and Complete

remain incomprehensible and awesome

to us

because that is their nature.

They are greater,

they are above

The Majestic that lives right beside us

Let us meet Them in the secret place

where they work wonders

and hear the whispers of Their heart to ours,

so that we too might be amazing.

The Power of Words

In Acts, we see the Holy Spirit descending upon the disciples in tongues of fire. In Isaiah, we see an angel branding the tongue of the prophet before sending him out.

We who know God, who belong to His family, have His words on our lips. By His power and will, we speak wisdom and prophesy. All insight and encouragement we may give goes forth directly from Him.

As the saying goes, “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” We must guard our hearts and minds, so only good goes out of it.

This of it this way, God spoke and the world was created. John calls Jesus Christ the very Word of God. This same Jesus brings our dead souls back to life, works miracles, and leads the way through life temporal into life eternal.

Today, let us meditate on the power of words and speak what is good.

Bless you, my friends. God is good.
