The God of Many Hats

We want to put God in a box

He’s a loving God

a warrior God

an unknowable God

a personal God

a He

a They

a person

a Spirit

a force

When in fact the beautiful thing about God

is that His person encompasses all these things

in ancient times,

they had many gods,

a god of shoes, of war, of harvest, of whatever

then the Jews came along and made

a crazy assertion,

that there was just God

and ever since then we have tried to split Him

up into little bits

because our brains love to compartmentalize things

but God remains God

the I AM, the God of infinite potential

I’m as guilty of this as the next person

of projecting onto, of pigeonholing Him

Yet the moment we allow God to be God

the moment He reveals Himself

to be ever so much more incredible than

we ever imagined He could be

we just have to have faith and trust

enough to allow Him to do so,

and allow ourselves that potential ourselves

so that we can be everything He meant us to be.

You are Mirror-Beautiful

If you’re ever standing in front of a mirror

Stop and say, “wow!”

The God who created the heavens and the Earth

saw it fit to craft every quark

Every thought, feeling, emotion

Every bone and muscle and ounce of fat and curve and shape

The way you talk the way you walk the way you breathe

The way you perceive life the way you interact with it

The way you connect the experiences you’ve had

Your past your future this very moment

So that it was the way you see it now

How amazingly beautiful you are.

¡Amen!

Call Me By My Name

God called Mary the faithful one.

God called Gideon a mighty man of valor

Both were caught by surprise.

We get so obsessed with exterior image.

God, who created us,

calls us by a name that catches us totally by surprised.

Today, listen quietly for the voice of God,

He is whispering insights into your being,

into the totality of human existence.

Will you be present and aware enough to hear

the voice of God?

Multifaceted

We pose for each other all the time,

offering our best, our most attractive side,

our best self,

hoping people will like us.

But we’re so many things.

We are quiet and loud and sexy and ugly

and smart and dumb and loving and spiteful.

All of which doesn’t play on camera,

but that’s the thing.

You can tell a contrived image a mile away,

but a shred of honesty

circles the globe.

Show yourself today.

Stay you =)

Multifaceted You

Don’t tell yourself you’re changing

Not counting a serious life event,

you’ll always be you.

The expression may change and that’s it.

Just have fun.

And if you ever tell yourself I’ve got nothing to offer,

refer back to the first segment.

And play around with it!

The expression of your unique combination of genes

and experiences may astound even you.

The Moments that Keep Us Going

We call it the drop:

that moment where you shed all your stuff

of how you think you should be and how you should act and how you should sound

and you just trust yourself and listen to your body and the company you’re with

and it’s like a burden lifts off your soul and you drop comfortably into yourself,

Those are the moments we strive towards,

the moments that keep us going.
